What is an atomic absorption spectrophotometer?

An atomic spectrophotometer is an analytical instrument that uses Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) to determine the concentration of metallic elements in a sample. The elements in a liquid or solid sample are detected by different wavelengths of radiation absorbed by different atoms.
